"Access to some areas will embargoed..." Need to add the word - be - between will and embargoed.
How you enforce non-access sounds like a nice topic for the European Parliament!

R=> Enforcement is the risk of being caught ! It only really matters for the Elite and it would be career ending if they were spotted inside an embargoed area. As Controller I've encountered orienteers running with maps inside of two Lakes areas - both claimed not to have entered the event, and indeed didn't compete. I doubt they were scouting for a friend.

Bigger issue methinks!
Some areas (e.g., Arnold, Berry Hill, Bestwood) do not offer a map download. Some can be accessed via Routegadget but not all. Others (e.g., Beeston) offer a POC but no answers.
Feels like the purpose of this page needs reviewing by the person heading the mapping function (Andrew). If it's for use by newcomers, then, for all areas shown, they must be able to download a map they can use (limit to just POCs?). If the page is also to be used by experienced orienteers, then we may need to structure the areas shown in terms of recency perhaps, and bundle all those areas with areas where the maps are likley out out date to an archive page. Could be raised at a future committee meeting perhaps.
Note - I have only reviewed the first half dozen areas.

R=> The page is a way to find the event at Blidworth Woods which you ran 10 years ago. It is the only page that shows collated information for an area. It also has the location map. Every club has a page like this. Maybe it's a bragging page.

R=> "orienteering map DOES NOT" - I've made this into non-break phrase so it doesn't split awkwardly between 'map' and 'DOES'

R=> I hope this is much more interesting visually. Just a first stab though. Someone needs to populate the terrain types for all unmarked areas.

I've populated the terrain types

Page purpose discussed with V. Consequently a further paragraph inserted, and a facility to select by terrain. For further discussion.

Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club

Current Mapped Areas

Over the course of 60 years, NOC has mapped almost the whole of the forests, woods and parks within our county as well of many of the urban areas. Some areas haven't been used for many years, but may come back when undergrowth, parking, forestry or ownership change. Clicking on an area name will give more details, and information about events using that map, including RouteGadget links.

A reminder: Access to any private land is by permission only. Organised events can only be held with permission even on public land.

Possession of an orienteering map DOES NOT give permission to enter private land. Public land and public footpaths may be used at any time for individual access. Access to some areas will be embargoed from the time an event is announced - even public areas.

A hint to the terrain is provided ..

Historic Mapped Areas

These are areas the club no longer uses for events. Some are entirely private land.
Reminder: There is NO ACCESS ALLOWED except along any defined public rights of way, and within any parts of the areas designated as 'public space'.
